FeltFilm specialises in documentary storytelling across all platforms.

We chase narratives that raise the perennial questions about character — how we make ourselves at the risk of losing ourselves — and the sets of human emotions these quests spark.

We’re a nimble shop and we design highly specialised teams based on each project.

The company was founded in 2009 by award-winning Canadian producer and director Douglas Arrowsmith who launched FeltFilm following a decade-long career producing network news, current affairs, and documentary film specials.

Our first production was the independent music documentary “Memory & Desire”— a collaboration with UK singer/songwriter Stephen Duffy (founding member of Duran Duran) — the film was nominated for the prestigious “Sound & Vision Award” at CPH:DOX, Copenhagen.

The following year “Love Shines” — Arrowsmith’s film about Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith received two Canadian Screen awards after premiering on BBC Four and winning the audience choice at SXSW.

Eric Lasby, Editor/Producer

Eric Lasby is best known for his role as editor on Anthony Bourdain’s Emmy Award winning series “Parts Unknown” a show he worked on from the pilot episode onward. The show also earned Lasby two Ace Eddie nominations—one of which he took home the statue for in 2012.

In 2020 Lasby was editor on “Picture My Face: The Story of Teenage Head” and in-depth documentary about Canada’s most notorious band, the story turned to focus on the mental health issues and struggle with depression for founding member Gordie Lewis, whose life ended tragically in the summer of 2022.

Lasby also edited the documentary feature for CNN Films “Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent,” which was selected for the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and had a North American theatrical release by The Orchard in 2017.

No better words to describe him than those of Anthony Bourdain himself, from the forward to his book No Reservations“It is a particular joy, while shooting, say, along the Mexican border, to know that Eric Lasby is waiting to edit our stuff, that we can eventually tell him, “Make this episode look and sound like the early work of Robert Rodgriguez! Like El Mariachi!...”—Anthony Bourdain
