Memory & Desire
THIRTY YEARS IN THE WILDERNESS WITH STEPHEN DUFFY & THE LILAC TIME | After forming the early version of Duran Duran in 1978 with art college mates John Taylor and Nick Rhodes, Duffy leaves the group after a show at Barbarellas to find himself on BBC’s Top of the Pops with his global hit single, “Kiss Me” (1985). It earns him a fortune at age 19, the namesake “Tin Tin” and an offer to collaborate with Madonna. So, he moved out to the countryside to form The Lilac Time, “An English country and western band”—and that of course was only the beginning.
